HISTORY AND USE
Leaves and barks are used in dressings, fumigations, mumps inhalations, toothaches and headaches throughout the Sahelian zone, and leaves and barks are considered haemostatic and antiseptic used. on external ulcers, wounds and to heal (in circumcision for example) .The stems are very popular toothbrushes.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PLANT
A tree or shrub up to 9 meters in height, commonly found in the form of bushes, with characteristic leaves that are thick, coriaceous, well-marked at the tip and easily recognizable, with axillary or terminal white flowers. fruits are woody pods that persist for a long time on the tree and contain several rows of seeds.

CURATIVE ACTION
There is little work on Piliostigma reticulatum, the leaves contain tartaric acid which can explain the antiseptic action, as well as flavonoids that can justify the anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory action. in Dakar demonstrated the anti-inflammatory action of an extract of the leaves of Piliostigma reticulatum.

USES
Anti-inflammatory
Contaminate the fresh leaves and apply directly to the inflamed areas and sores.In toothache, use the toothbrush to calm the pain.
